Curated by Omar Kholeif

About

Curator Omar Kholeif takes us on a potted journey, which seeks to consider the form and aesthetics inherent within contemporary political activism. Kholeif will delve into work of Cairo-based activist collective Mosireen and share video works from the likes of artists such as Wafaa Bilal, Critical Art Ensemble and Queer Technologies. Kholeif will also be screening clips from of Crop (2013) a creative documentary, which explores the role that images played in the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. The film is directed by Johanna Domke and Marouan Omara. Omar Kholeif is a curator, writer and Senior Editor of Ibraaz.org. The Film Exercise is a monthly programme of screenings and discussion that explores the urgency, social or political timeliness in curatorial approaches to artists' film and video, as well as delighting in the diversity of artists' work in the field of the moving image. Curated by Bridget Crone and Al Cameron.
