[EN] The exhibition "In my half-sleep I see legends that live in me" by Lola Szlupowicz and Filip Preis tells about memories that are present in every human being, but their content is difficult to read. When they awaken, one has the impression that they take place on the edge of our senses, as if they were connected with an experience that concerns us but we have not (yet?) experienced it. Despite the fact that they are a part of our lives, we often neglect these memories - it is enough to wake up from a dream or think that a given word or gesture we used was a mistake. And yet, they come from somewhere - it is this specific experience of them that Filip and Lola explore in their works.

Filip: Do you sometimes have the feeling that you are seeing something familiar for the first time? Do you experience a sense of familiarity with an image you've never seen before? When you look at a painting, do you have the impression that you can also feel it, as if it were touching your skin? How can you, by looking at it, feel a smell, the warmth of a ray of light, someone's presence, the absence of something? "Visions" is the answer to these questions.
On the border between dream and reality, she balances and creates situations that have an open beginning, middle and end. The photographs are an invitation for the viewer to explore and interpret them in any way they wish, filtering them through their imagination, memories, associations and emotions.

Lola: Filip's photographs enter into a dialogue with my sculptures, which in turn focus on capturing inner fears, dreams and anxieties into a physical form that moves towards abstraction. In these works, elements of human (what kind of? maybe it is better to specify) carnality "emerge" here and there, just like random thoughts that we are surprised when they appear in our heads. In this corporeality and its blurring is expressed my fascination with the idea of Freud's das Unheimliche, that is, the anxiety aroused by crossing the borders between the worlds of life and death, biology and mechanics.

[PL] Wystawa “W półśnie widzę legendy, które żyją we mnie” Loli Szlupowicz i Filipa Preisa opowiada o wspomnieniach, które są obecne w każdym człowieku, lecz ich treść jest trudna do odczytania. Kiedy się budzą, ma się wrażenie, jakby odbywały się na krawędzi zmysłów, jakby były związane z doświadczeniem, które nas dotyczy, lecz my go (jeszcze?) nie przeżyliśmy. Pomimo, że są elementem naszego życia, wspomnienia te często lekceważymy – wystarczy choćby obudzić się ze snu czy uznać, że dane słowo lub gest którego użyliśmy były pomyłką. A przecież skądś się wzięły - właśnie to specyficzne ich doświadczanie eksplorują w swoich dziełach Filip i Lola.

Filip: Czy masz czasem poczucie, że widzisz po raz pierwszy coś już ci znanego? Czy spotyka cię uczucie zżycia z obrazem nigdy wcześniej niewidzianym? Czy patrząc na obraz miewasz wrażenie, że możesz go także poczuć, jakby dotykał cię po skórze? W jaki sposób można poprzez spojrzenie poczuć zapach, ciepło promieni światła, czyjąś obecność, brak czegoś? "Visions" to odpowiedź na te pytania.
Na granicy snu, rzeczywistości balansuje i kreuje sytuacje posiadające otwarty początek, środek i koniec. Fotografie są zaproszeniem dla odbiorcy do eksplorowania i interpretowania ich w dowolny sposób, filtrując je przez ich wyobraźnię, wspomnienia, skojarzenia i emocje.

Lola: Fotografie Filipa wchodzą w dialog z moimi rzeźbami, które z kolei skupiają się na ujmowaniu wewnętrznych lęków, mar i snów w formę fizyczną podążającą ku abstrakcji. W dziełach tych elementy ludzkiej cielesności „wyłaniają się” tu i ówdzie, tak jak owe myśli w przypadku których jesteśmy zaskoczeni kiedy pojawiają się w naszej głowie. W tej cielesności i jej zatarciu wyraża się moja fascynacja ideą freudowskiego das Unheimliche, czyli niepokoju wzbudzonego przez przekraczanie granic między światami życia i śmierci, biologii i mechaniki.
