Steve Turner is pleased to present Figuring, a group exhibition that features new works by Shadi Al-Atallah, Bianca Fields, Adam Linn, Brittany Miller, Dickens Otieno, Tiger Rocha, Gabby Rosenberg and Brittany Tucker. Life experience, identity, emotion, imagination and contemplation are some of the themes that unite these eight artists who create distinctive figurative works that in turn provoke more contemplation.

Shadi Al-Atallah (born 1994, Saudi Arabia, lives London) earned a BA at the University of the Arts, London (2018) before earning an MA at the Royal College of Art, London (2021). They have had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2022); Guts Gallery, London (2021); Hammond Projects, London (2020) and Cob Gallery, London (2018).

Bianca Fields (born 1995, Cleveland, lives Kansas City) earned a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art (2019). She has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2022); Dragon, Crab and Turtle, St. Louis (2021) and has had work included in group exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2021); L21, Palma de Mallorca (2021) and Galerie Droste, Paris (2021).

Adam Linn (b. 1995, Pittsburgh) earned a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design (2017) and has had a solo exhibition at JPS Gallery, Hong Kong (2022); a two-person exhibition at Martha’s Contemporary, Austin (2022) and had work included in group exhibitions at Eve Leibe Gallery, London (2022). He will open his debut solo exhibition with Steve Turner, Los Angeles in January 2023.

Brittany Miller (b. 1990 Utica, New York, lives Bronx) earned a BFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn (2013).  She has had solo exhibitions at Thierry Goldberg Gallery, New York (2022) and  Scott Miller Projects, Birmingham (2022). She will have her debut solo exhibition with Steve Turner in January 2023.

Dickens Otieno (born 1979, Migori, Kenya, lives Nairobi) has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2021); Circle Art Agency, Nairobi (2018 & 2020) and has had works in numerous group exhibitions and art fairs in Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania Nigeria, France and England.

Tiger Rocha (born 1998, Pleasanton, California, lives New York) earned a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design (2021). Since graduating, he has been creating the body of paintings that he will introduce in Figuring. Rocha will have his debut solo exhibition with Steve Turner in July 2023.

Gabby Rosenberg (born Chicago, 1992, lives Los Angeles) earned a BA from Hampshire College (2014) and an MFA from CalArts (2018). She has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2019, 2020 & 2021) and her work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco (2019); Untitled, Miami Beach (2019) and Expo Chicago (2022).

Brittany Tucker (b. 1996, Brooklyn, lives Vienna) received a BA at Bard College (2018). She has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2019, 2020 & 2022) and DWDS, Bregenz, Austria (2021). Tucker has also presented works at September Gallery, Hudson, New  York (2021) and at The Armory Show, New York (2021).
