Figment Arts Brings Sussex Folklore to Life Through Story Maps Exhibition
A public exhibition from Figment Arts; powerful solo and collaborative work in Newhaven as part acclaimed Story Maps project, reimagining Sussex folklore.
About
Figment Arts, a community arts organisation supporting neurodivergent and learning disabled artists, is proud to announce a public exhibition of solo and collaborative work in Newhaven as part of its acclaimed Story Maps project.
The work will be shown at Marine Workshops in Newhaven, and in Newhaven Museum between 24 June and 5 July 2025.
Over the past year, the artists have immersed themselves in local communities - exploring museum collections across Sussex, gathering oral histories, taking field trips, singing songs and meeting with residents to uncover the untold stories of the region. The result is a powerful body of new artwork and a collection of large-scale collaborative ‘story maps’ that visually document these unique histories.
Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Story Maps has worked in partnership with Hastings Museum, Newhaven Museum, Worthing Museum.
