About

Part of both Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture and the Nour Festival of Arts, Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art is an exhibition at Leighton House Museum brought over by Qatar's Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). Ferozkoh (Turquoise Mountain in Dari), comprises 18 pairs of objects, half are priceless historical objects from MIA's masterpiece collection and the other half are contemporary artworks by craftsmen and women from Afghanistan created in response to, and in conversation with, the historical objects. The exhibition explores the preservation of the arts from the Islamic world in the present day and the role of education in both transmission and translation.
