FAR and NEAR brings together a body of work that explores a relationship between the gestural process of mono-print and the more cognitive process of collage.
About
Amy Cowperthwaite is an artist and printmaker based in North London.
FAR and NEAR brings together a body of work that explores a relationship between the gestural process of mono-print and the more cognitive process of collage. As her practice itself is situated between two disparate poles, the images she produces often look to connect or reconcile opposites.
Through matching found materials with her own printed images, Amy invites us to follow a thought process that draws connections between figurative and non-figurative imagery.
Amy is currently doing an MA in Art Therapy, which utilises the idea of a third space, co-created by two people, existing between them, and owned by both; art similarly can occupy this space.
An interest in the mind and human experience underpins her practice.
