Come and explore our exhibitions with our friendly learning team and use resources in the Salmon Gallery to explore through a range of creative workshops.
Each week brings something new inspired by the gallery exhibitions Traces and Unlocking The World and it perfect for families and children. Spaces are limited to give people enough space and are pre-bookable only.
When booking tickets, please book the accurate amount of children and adults coming to each workshop. Adults must stay with there children at all times.
Itinerary of workshops:
Workshop 1: Clay Traces – 23 February, 23 March & 18 May
Using the materials provided, explore the range of shapes and traces you can make in clay. A fun sensory exploration of drawing in response to the exhibition. Work together to roll out a clay tile, and use the tools provided to explore movement and make your own traced patterns.
Workshop 2: Traces Printmaking – 2 March, 6 April & 4 May
Explore abstract print-making using different making tools to create your own unique artwork. Learn how to make a simple print plate to create a series of traces prints. Display your work in the gallery or take it home.
Workshop 3: Movement Mark-Making – 9 March & 13 April
Be inspired by the traces we make in the gallery. Take part in creating a long collaborative gallery drawing play session, using all kinds of mark making tools on sticks. Move and dance around the gallery capturing your movements through the marks you make!
Workshop 4: Make a Kaleidoscope – 16 March, 20 April, 11 May, 25 May & 5 June
Inspire by our Unlocking the World exhibition, create a simple kaleidoscope to see the world differently. All materials and instructions provided.
25 May ‘Make a Kaleidoscope’ workshop is with Spark Arts as part of Spark Festival 2024.
