AboutFALLING is a two-week exhibition of contemporary art that explores the multifaceted concepts of imbalance and falling as fluid mechanisms. The curators aim to present the theme in an expanded sense through literal processes, political evaluation and figurative elements.
'"Falling" simultaneously evokes a dramatic sense of both exhilaration and anxiety,' says Breann DeCoste, co-curator of FALLING. 'It is inherently subject to diverse interpretations that not only reflect on the external environment of contemporary society, but are also relatable to the internal struggles and successes that we all face as individuals.'
The exhibition will showcase the work of emerging and established British and international artists working in a variety of media, including Hans K. Clausen, Claudia de la Peà ±a, Clare Flatley, Sarah Gittins, Robert Pereira Hind, Darius Kowal, Geri Loup Nolan, Alexander T. Oleksyn, Tim Sandys, Beth Shapeero and Eva Ullrich.
According to Co-curator Elizabeth Lyne, the exhibition was envisaged as a platform to highlight contemporary, material-based practices in relation to a multilateral theme. 'The works we are showing invite the viewer to respond with both immediacy and reflective engagement.'
