About the artists

Leman Daricioğlu produces mostly in the field of performance art but also (rarely) in other disciplines like installation, video, photography etc.    sees the process of making art as a performative research on the self.       uses the work as a tool to transform limits and subjectivity and also to create new corporal concepts to think, to imagine, to dream, to act, to be and to become. works are always based on this two layers: The transformative power of the body work and the intellectual/political/ethical concept (which speak with one voice to ) of the project.      views the body as a resource to be unravelled; as a laboratory of emotions, fears and limits; and as an intensity space of encounters.      believes in the power of the present and the touch. If and when needs to define      as an artist,        chooses to use the ‘queer artist’ title. take of ‘queer’ does not only refer to an area beyond heterosexuality and binary sex, but also to a space beyond normativity itself.

Radage ▽ Hardaker is the close collaboration between Alicia Radage and Ro Hardaker.

"Our work focusses on the body in a state of flux. We are concerned with gender and sexuality, care and violence. We are concerned with how the body interacts with other bodies and other materials and dismantling the hierarchy built into body politics and materialism, how it contaminates, is contaminated, dilutes, is diluted, concentrates, is concentrated. We make work with our bodies as the starting point."

Augusto Cascales is a Brazilian artist based in London, working across different mediums at the intersection of spontaneity and criticality. Using queer feminist and post-colonial positions, their (soma)tic ritualistic practice explores deviant forms of knowledge production and distribution.

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley:

ARTIST LIVING AND WORKING IN LONDON

I CREATE WORK THAT SEEKS TO ARCHIVE BLACK TRANS EXPERIENCE. I USE TECHNOLOGY TO IMAGINE OUR LIVES IN ENVIRONMENTS THAT CENTRE OUR BODIES...

THOSE LIVING, THOSE THAT HAVE PASSED AND THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN

About F U T U R E R I T U A L

F U T U R E R I T U A L is a performance and research project considering the place, use and function of ritual within contemporary performance and queer cultures. The project positions ritual as a technology, and asks how artists might use ritual technology, and to what ends. Noting the proximity of ritual within both queer and performance histories, F U T U R E R I T U A L is primarily concerned queer futurities and the ways that ritual performance might manifest, gesture towards, or otherwise call forth these alternate states, possibilities or ways of being.

In September 2019, F U T U R E R I T U A L will present a public programme at Kunstraum and the Live Art Development Agency. The programme is entirely free to attend includes a screening of films and video documentation and discussion event, and two performance events.

The project is a lab for performative research by lead artist Joseph Morgan Schofield and other invited artists. Through public performance events, F U T U R E R I T U A L aims to provide an active context for the presentation of performance art in the UK.

Supported by Arts Council England, Kunstraum and the Live Art Development Agency.
