About

The exhibition will last until the 5th of October.
Opening hours from 2 pm - 8 pm daily or due appointment.

Both artists were born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. They met at the British Schools' High School, both choosing the Visual Arts program proposed by the IB Diploma. Kat Koch was captivated by Melanie’s incredible skills, the acuity of her vision and its perfect materialization. On the other hand, it was the instinctive creativity to transform reality which attracted Melanie into Kat Koch’s work.
Coming from very different universes, they present each other a beautiful challenge- the opportunity to explore art forms and languages they've never tried, delving out of each other's artistic “comfort zone”. Their aim is to invite the public and each other to play in their respective personal dimension, proposing a multiplicity of answers to the same interrogation: time.
Within this challenge, it is the light that is chosen as a medium to channel the main theme and to build a natural bridge between their work, as they defy themselves to manipulate light in each other’s way. In a universal scale, light is the variable through which humans measure time. It is through light's inextricable connection to time that we are able to understand the passing of time and the magnitude of the space around us.
This is why the exhibition was conceived longitudinally, in the form of a timeline through which the public travels. The beginning of this timeline evidences a sharp and acute vision of reality, where works do not defy light but are revealed under its harsh scrutiny, often appearing too real. As the public moves on, the surroundings appear less realistic, and artworks progressively distort into a psychedelic medley, evident through changes in light. Here, the artists and their artworks dare to edit perception, pretending to manipulate time at their own will.

Die Ausstellung dauert bis zum 5. Oktober.
