International non-profit arts organisation ArtCan is launching a new group exhibition, ‘Eye of the Beholder’, at 508 Gallery on the King’s Road in London.
About
The phrase ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ is attributed to Irish novelist Margaret Hungerford – to describe the fact that beauty is subjective, that what appears beautiful to one person may not be beautiful to another.
Running from 28th March – 4th April, the show will celebrate how ArtCan member artists capture beauty – whether that be physical beauty, natural beauty, something in between or something else entirely. The gallery will be open Monday to Saturday between 10am – 6pm.
The exhibition private view will take place on Tuesday 29th March from 6.30pm – 9pm, with registration via Eventbrite: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/eye-of-the-beholder-private-view-tickets-272261951827
Curator Catherine Sweet says: “This collection brings together an inclusive spectrum of works, creating a conversation about how societal ideals of beauty are defined, challenged and redefined. The range of responses to the theme from ArtCan artist members is wonderfully diverse and has produced a small but perfectly formed show.”
