Inspired by Surrealist and Bauhaus photography from the 1920s and 30s, this one day workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn about different ways of inventing images in the darkroom which cannot be seen through the camera.
About
This hands on workshop will explore photograms and other experimental methods of printing images in black and white, using your own negatives and found objects. You will be introduced to a range of techniques including: the use of textures to create dreamlike images, combining positive and negative images, superimposing multiple negatives and the use of masks and collage.
In the second part of the workshop, there will be opportunity to explore your own ideas using any number or combination of the techniques demonstrated.
This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities, and no previous darkroom experience is necessary.
