EXHIBITION TOUR WITH ARTIST HILARY JACK

Artist, Hilary Jack will lead a free tour of solo exhibition And Scent of Pine and the Woodthrush Singing... at Castlefield Gallery on Thursday 21 July at 6pm. Jack collects broken objects and discarded materials from a variety of sources including city streets, eBay or charity shops. She then transforms and rejuvenates them, sometimes returning them to their original locations. For And Scent of Pine and the Woodthrush Singing..., Jack's debut UK solo exhibition the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life are re arranged to comment on a countryside under threat or a domestic home damaged, while making ingenious use of unwanted detritus and reinvigorating the lost and abandoned into an elegiac narrative. As well as discussing key works in the exhibition, Jack will also talk about her wider arts practice and future projects. This is a free event but booking is required.
