About

The show brings together 11 artists who hail from countries affected by Trump's travel ban, alongside artists whose works reflect struggles and experiences of drift and restraint in the face of sociopolitical instability.

Having experienced these issues themselves, participating artists Rashwan Abdelbaki, Ali Chitsaz, Reem Gibriel, Nadia Gohar, Ibi Ibrahim, Ifrah Mansour, Esperanza Mayobre, Remijon Pronja, Nooshin Rostami, Asiya Al-Sharabi, and Sufyvn, explore the trauma of displacement and/or forced separation and what it means to be a refugee.

The show is curated by Osman Can Yerebakan and presented by the Artistic Freedom Initiative, whose mission is to provide free immigration and resettlement assistance to artists who have been under threat in their home countries. Three artists -Ali Chitsaz, Rashwan Abdelbaki, and Nooshin Rostami - are AFI artists.
