About
Roulette hosts an evening of experimental music presented by Evolver Records. Founded by composer and vocalist Lola Danza, Evolver Records is dedicated to releasing innovated and creative music that focuses on artist’s integrity and vision. With features in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and All About Jazz, Evolver artists are revolutionizing art and creating a new era in music.
The child of a South Korean mother and Italian American father, Lola Danza celebrates women by using voice and sound in various forms. Danza began studying the traditional Korean healing arts at an early age, focusing on Mudangs, or Korean medicine women that use music to heal physical and mental ailments. She drew on these experiences to create Korean Shamans, which will premiere at Roulette during tonight’s performance.
The evening will also feature pianist Matthew Shipp, violinist Fung Chern Hwei, George Spanos' Trio and Ben Stapp & the Zozimos Myrrah's Red Book Act II.
