The sculptures in Heli Ryhänen's new installation project Evil Shepherd form a narrative that continues from one space to another. Ryhänen conceives her sculptures as âindividuals' and as particular projects develop, they become part of a âfamily' or some other kind of community.
In dimmed gallery spaces Ryhänen examines the depths of the human mind before the viewer's eyes. The sculptures, which have a very human-like presence are made of fabric, steel, light and shadow. Ryhänen aims to create dreamlike atmospheres which contain feelings common to all of us: happiness, fear, loneliness and tension in relationships.
