About
Join Dr Lars Kokkonen, Assistant Curator of Paintings and Sculpture, Yale Center for British Art, for a lecture on the artist Benjamin West, a central figure in the development of neo-classical painting. ‘Evaporations: Milkmaids in St. James’s Park No More’ is the last in a series of three lectures about Benjamin West taking place at Spencer House. These lectures run alongside a special display that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the restoration of the State Rooms at Spencer House, where James ‘Athenian’ Stuart’s early neo-classical interiors will showcase work by Benjamin West.
The lecture will take place on Monday 14 November 2016 at 6.30pm. It will be followed by drinks in the State Rooms at Spencer House and will be open if you wish to view the displays.
Tickets cost £10 (+ £1 booking fee) and can be booked online.
The exhibition 'Milkmaids in St James's Park: Benjamin West at Spencer House' that has been organised by The Rothschild Foundation in collaboration with the Yale Center for British Art runs until 29th January 2017.
