Kobayashi's paintings are full of play. Play of space, not only in subject matter and perspective, but also in the physical re-arrangement of the canvas in a painting. Play of line, mixing pencil and embroidery to draw. Play of colour, in unexpected tones and hues. And just as importantly, just plain play! The fun, the humour and the joy that are her work.
