3 – 20 November 2015
About
This special exhibition marks her 30th Year with Thackeray Gallery, and will consist of 30 unseen oil paintings.
Renowned for her ‘skies’ and ‘light’, Ethel Walker has often been named the ‘modern day Turner’. Living on the West Coast of Scotland, her immediate environment is a constant source of inspiration. Best viewed in a ‘half light’, her work transports you into the landscape almost immediately, and larger than life, often over 2 meters long, they capture a ‘vast, impressive window’ onto the world outdoors. They are, quite simply, magnificent.
At 74, Ethel Walker’s reputation is worldwide. Her collectors come from all over the world too. Gathering critical acclaim over the years as well as many Awards, to include the Anne Redpath Award and Commissions, to include most recently Home House, London, Ethel Walker is at the peak of her career.
