Celebrating 37 years at Thackeray Gallery, Kensington, we are delighted to welcome back, established Scottish artist, Ethel Walker.

About

For Ethel’s stunning 2019 solo show, ‘Landscape of Light’ she captures the beauty and drama of the ever changing landscape. The powerful light peaking through the dramatic sky, contrasts against the serene river. 34 atmospheric paintings have been made for this show, each artwork individually shines through, with it’s sublime qualities of expressive colourisations.

Ethel was taught the importance of light by her father, and how every object creates its own light.  This understanding and use of light brings to Ethel Walker’s work a quality and depth, together with her sensitive brushwork, providing a stimulating background to the ever changing pattern of the Scottish countryside.

                                                                                                   Michael Saunders Watson CBE, DL.

Over the years, Ethel Walker has received numerous awards including, Anne Redpath Award, Scottish Society of Women Artists; Glasgow Herald painting Competition, (RGI); Alva Computers Purchase Prize, Scottish Society of Artists & Craftsmen, (SAAC). Ethel’s work can also be seen in many Private, Public and Corporate Collections, throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Hong Kong and Australia.
