40mcube presents a solo show by cuban artist Segundo Planes that gathers paintings and drawings realized in the 1980s.
About
Segundo Planes is part of a generation of artists who, in the early 1980s, radically changed the practice of painting in Cuba. His works, characterized by a strong eclecticism, present a phantasmagorical universe populated by fantastical and sometimes disturbing creatures. For his exhibition at 40mcube, Segundo Planes presents a selection of paintings and drawings made in the 1980s.
This exhibition is part of Tout le poids d'une île. Collection l’art cubain (The weight of an island. A collection of cuban art), which brings together this fall and winter 250 works by more than 100 Cuban artists in three institutions, the centres for contemporary art 40mcube in Rennes, Passerelle in Brest, and the Museum of fine arts of Rennes, and at the Orangerie of the Thabor Park in Rennes.
