Escape Realities is exploring how we all have our own ideas of truth, reality and perfection and how escapism is used so constantly now that who can define what is truth and what is fantasy.
Arts currently studying at UCA Farnham have curated escape Realities. This exhibition brings together a range of mediums; film, sculpture and installation set in a kitchen environment. The displayed works aim to move away from the white cube space to explore alternative gallery spaces. The intent is to create a dialogue between the work and its unusual surroundings. Set in the kitchen showroom at Homebase Godalming Surrey, this two-day exhibition of up and coming artists work focuses on the transformative qualities and the everyday.
Emma Corrall - practice poses questions around consumer culture, object ontology and bio politics. Sculptural compositions using ceramics are presented in direct relationship to found objects to seek out a destabilisation of tangible perception within a domestic environment.
Hilde Krohn Huse - works within the field of narratives; editing, manipulating, twisting and skewing information and narrative content to control the viewers perceptions while also making them aware of the process. Krohn Huse’s content usually consists of found material, which then comes together in films or collages or text to create an entirely new narrative.
A.M Hanson - is an artist photographer and film maker, starting as an action portrait photographer for the likes of McQueen depicting per-formative situations, his current practice includes a large scale, ongoing photo and film project which investigates how offices and related spaces can be readapted to illuminate post contemporary conditions, creative production or fantasy usage.
Vanessa Cumper - is a mixed media artist who is interested in our desire for the unreachable trying to find life in outer space and asks are we trying to escape the reality. Is it that our insatiable consumerism has had such a devastating effect on our own planet or do we want to corrupt other worlds.
