ERNEST TAIT- From The Corner of my Eye

About

Well...here we go. Upping the ante at THE HEPSIBAH GALLERY comes an exhibition by emerging young artist ERNEST TAIT and I am so pleased to be hosting this one. I met him when he was 'saving' fish skins at a local restaurant for a project of trapping them in resin. It was a bit like those Victorian necklaces where a butterfly wing is sealed behind glass to give a translucent beauty mixed with that wierd tone of a 20's chagreen purse....but obviously with a new interpretation which I am glad to say is pure Ernest Tait. In a conversation with him recently I tried to trap him into the new Altermodern (see Tate Triennial.Nicolas Bourriaud) That his work touches on the themes of exile, that it fits into the Global interpretation....but he would have none of it. His movement is his own....maybe. So come along and see for yourself. I've watched people looking at his work and it is strangely accessible. This guy is good, interesting, amusing and the work has a strange beauty. I recommend you buy one even as an investment. JH
