"exploring the juncture where art, science & identity collide"
Artist Richard Sharples invites you to directly participate in the closing event, Epilogue - After Fall . The audience will be given a simple task to perform in silence set by the artist - who will film the actions in quick time and through this action you will actively contribute to a future art work.
If you are shy, no worries, no faces need be seen.
Sharples work throughout his Spring residency has explored themes of fragility, mortality, faith and hope with a poignant delicacy and sensitive use of materials : film, fire, water, copper, sand, and the physical weather changes within a season.
Throughout the Spring residency, the artist has embraced the challenges and continual flux of this unique environmental setting of the urban court yard space of Elements Gallery London in the heart of east London, to both inform and reflect in his sculptures and digital art.
The Epilogue is a chance to see many of the works created over the duration of the residency (February to May) and witness Sharples keen sense of beauty he deploys to explore highly personal experiences of injury, loss, imagination, identity and depression.
Upstairs @ LUBOMIROV / ANGUS-HUGHES the film screening of the artists short, documents all four installations and their development. This will be followed by an artist talk with curator Rebecca Feiner exploring the role played by the outdoor urban setting in the development and influence on the art, the value and role of art in a time of crisis both personal and political, and the role played by Elements Gallery London as an artists experimental platform that gives space and time to the artist.
