Runs: 13.05.2009 to 23.05.2009
Futuresonics Environment 2.0 project began with a question: how can the visionary thinking within locative arts and mass participatory nature of social networking technologies bring a fresh approach to environmental awareness and sustainability? It looks for new alternative approaches to environmental art that are pushing through, creatively intervening in the ways people live their daily lives, and seeking to inspire social change.
The result is an art exhibition in which thirty international artists display an original engagement in the environment with projects which aim to provoke and inspire. The artists here avoid cliches and address environmental sustainability in ways both forceful and irreverent. Additionally Futuresonic has collaborated with the MET Office, Lancaster University and Natural History Museum on a number of large scale, participatory mass observation projects on Climate and biodiversity.
CUBE is delighted to be continuing its partnership with Futuresonic as the principle venue for its Art strand as part of Futuresonic 2009.
