Imagination is part of seeing
The creative process, especially painting, has been, and still is, the most challenging and mysterious activity.
About
Myrel Morgan Jones says "I find it inspiring when someone looks at one of my paintings and sees in it a complex narrative that I hadn't been aware of. "
All Myrel's paintings tell stories. By keeping their first appearance relatively abstract she hopes to enable the viewers’ imagination to conjure their own characters and weave their own narrative.
The "Entrances" series is all about journeys - past, present and in and out of the worlds she creates.
Her process involves using colour glazes, some underdrawing and a range of brush techniques. At present, the use of a palette knife fascinates her, along with the technique of using acrylic under oil paint. When stumped she likes to change mediums ....but carry on the conversation. The change often leads her down an unexpected path, which can be also be inspiring.
