Critically acclaimed Adegborioye resides in the UK and is renowned for the use of colour in his work; responding in oil on canvas, to the profound changes in Nigerian society - focusing mainly on Lagos and his home city of Ibadan. Jean Joseph, curator for this exhibition believes that "Kunle Adegborioye”²s scenes of the metropolis enables streetscapes to emerge from the canvas, transporting the viewer”²s audiovisual and olfactory senses into intense enterprise; competing market traders, rear streets and main thoroughfares, colourful roofs of umbrellas and buildings alike - all are conveyed in this language of environmental and human dynamics."
