Emptiness is Form, an exhibition of contemporary Chinese ceramics, is the first event in Interbeing, an ambitious international project taking place throughout 2021 that brings sound and ceramic artists together through residencies, exhibitions and collaborations in China and the UK.
About
Open Saturdays and Sundays 11-5pm and other days by appointment. Email kay@theceramichouse.co.uk
The exhibition is curated by artist and curator Kay Aplin, and features contemporary Chinese ceramics from artists in China, the USA, Italy and the UK.
The title Emptiness is Form is taken from the Heart Sutra and reflects myriad ways in which the exhibitors work with the material of clay.
The artworks selected for this show offer a rare overview of the breadth of contemporary Chinese ceramic practice today and are displayed against the unique background of Kay Aplin’s architectural ceramics which fill interior and exterior of house and garden.
To accompany the ceramics, Chinese sound artists will live stream performances during the exhibition. Events updated on The Ceramic House website/FB page.
