Traces, layers, and the passage of time.
Jae Hyeok Ryu explores the unpredictable interactions of materials—paint, salt, charcoal, ice, and iron powder—through works that blur the line between painting and installation.

About
Empreinte: The Multilayered Accumulation of Aimless Traces
Solo Exhibition by Jae Hyeok Ryu
May 5–31, 2025 | a piece a peace, Seoul
In this exhibition, Jae Hyeok Ryu presents paintings shaped by the spontaneous interactions of materials—paint, salt, charcoal, ice, and iron powder. Rather than controlling the outcome, the artist allows time and natural reactions to leave layered traces. Installed throughout the space, the works break free from the flat canvas, extending into the air and inviting viewers to observe from shifting perspectives. The result is a quiet meditation on change, presence, and the beauty of what unfolds without intention.
