Emily Jane Bruce is the winner of the prestigious Rising Stars 2018 prize and we are delighted to welcome her back for her One Year On exhibition. Rising Stars is a platform for the most exciting new crafts by emerging makers from crafts and applied arts programmes across the UK.
About
Emily Jane creates mixed media soft sculptures and traditional illustrations. Emily's work stems from her love of antique toys, haberdashery and lettering; items with qualities of the uncanny and the priceless period of childhood nostalgia.Carnival, Emily's first solo show, is a weirdly wonderful celebration of all things fantastical, bringing to life characters and creatures from the secret world of the circus and bygone showman's era. Emily's whimsical creations invite you to relive the aged splendour of the big top tent through her unique style and lovingly made details.
Rising Stars is organised by the New Ashgate Gallery and supported by the Billmeir Charitable Trust. We work in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.
