About
The artist Mônica Schoenacker (1967, São Paulo, SP) explores silkscreen, combining artisanal and industrial processes, to occupy the facade of Casa de Cultura do Parque as part of the Dando Bandeira project. The latter encourages artists to create works in the form of flags, evoking their visual symbolism that represents origins, values, and history.
In Embandeirada, the pieces are printed in the workshops and with the collaboration of the Instituto Acaia team, transforming this printing technique into a space for creation and learning. The research on printing patterns is also part of the exhibition, investigating their repetitions and graphic meanings. In this way, Schoenacker works on the relationship between image, materiality, and reproduction, resignifying everyday elements.
A graduate of FAU-USP and the Royal College of Art, she is the creator of Sericleta, a mobile silkscreen unit through which she carried out actions in public spaces and at SESC. She taught serigraphy, printing, and arts at various institutions and currently works at Instituto Acaia. The exhibition at Casa de Cultura do Parque had the contributions of Gabriel Balbino, Jeane de Jesus, and Maria Vitória Ferreira Nascimento, the Institute's team, and Gênesis Tintas.
