About

On a recent residency in Connecticut, Rees, inspired by the romanticised death of Virginia Woolf, performed in a wood, by a lake wearing a Victorian wedding dress. This video work, juxtaposed with a study of the concluding chapter of Charlotte Bronte's arguably feminist masterpiece, Jane Eyre, develops the artist's interest in iconic heroines and the notion of marriage. These short pieces create a dialogue which explores femininity, gender and the representation of the romantic rescue in film, literature and popular culture. | Deleadà ºs | 4 Sutton Lane, London, EC1M 5PU 0207 490 2992 info@deleadus.com Gallery opening times Monday — Friday 12pm — 5pm Saturday 12pm — 4pm Sunday by appointment Tube: Barbican.
