gallery/ten presents beautiful mistake, a solo exhibition of new abstract paintings by award-winning painter elfyn lewis beautiful mistake is lewis' first solo exhibition in cardiff since winning the title of welsh artist of the year in 2010 + features a natural progression in lewis' recognisable practice. the exhibition will feature work on paper - rarely seen by lewis - and sees a further development of his method towards the graphic- + digitally-inspired hinting at the forms of landscapes while appearing effortless + accidental, lewis' paintings are the result of numerous processes, reactive gestures + considered actions. layers of thick paint are applied, scraped back, masked, built up + grinded down to create highly textured, colourful + emotive work. this process of adding, moving + subtracting paint offer the opportunity for the revelation of a ‘beautiful mistake' prices range from £380 - £1700. the arts council of wales' interest-free payment scheme, collectorplan is available on all works. for further information on the gallery + its artists see gallery-ten.co.uk
