MARS is delighted to present “Behaglichkeit”, Elena Von Hessen’s solo show curated by Fabio Carnaghi.

This is the sixth in a series of special projects called “My Room On Mars”, in which artists are invited to engage with MARS’s peculiar history as an accidental white cube.

The Elena Von Hessen research has a mnemonic approach by an idiomatic chromatism. The studio practice becomes fundamental to collect the experience relics, even if ephemeral.

For MARS Von Hessen discloses her intimate poetics. A site-specific intervention recalls the artist studio stereotype considered as intellectual activity and as space.

In a preparatory atmosphere accomplished mainly in her paintings, an images inventory brings to light an obsolete approach differently than contemporary immaterial process about post digital image.

The image’s materiality with an empirical tone suggests a free attitude as comfortable mnemonic space.

Elena Von Hessen born in Kiel (Germany) lives and works in Milan and Capri. After studies in London and Berlin, she works as illustrator and designer and then as artist. She has recently shown in institutions and art galleries such as Fondazione Bussolera Branca, Casteggio di Mairano; Galerie Richter, Lütjenburg; Galerie J.H.Bauer, Hamburg; Triennale, Milan; Künstlerhaus Bethanien,Berlin; Schloss Fasanerie, Eichenzell.
