Cuturi Gallery in collaboration with Coda Culture and So-Far, cordially invite you to the Inaugural Opening night with two exhibitions: Elemental Beings and Stages & Mirrors.

About

Elemental Beings, will feature the renowned French contemporary artist Lionel Sabatte who will introduce his latest paintings, sculptures and drawings. Meet and greet the French artist who will also be building three concrete sculptures live along Orchard Road, in a shipping container, during the Singapore Art Week.

Stages & Mirrors presents an exhibition of new paintings by Yunita Rebekah and Aisha Rosli. The two promising young painters are currently mentored through the new c/discoveries initiative by Cuturi Gallery together with the support of So-Far and Coda Culture. Yunita Rebekah continues to develop her textural exploration and deconstruction of the self-portrait. Through vigorous, painterly gestures, she effaces the silhouette on the canvas, referencing the hollow, absent condition that individuals in contemporary society struggle with. Aisha Rosli presents a series of androgynous maidens on stages, platforms or beds. Unidentifiable, faceless and agonised, they perform erotic contortions to an absent audience. Rosli’s figures are manifestations of the psyche, representing an internal world of libidinous secrets, fear and desire.

c/discoveries is an initiative that creates a new art market. Borrowing key elements from non-profit arts, it is committed to nurturing emerging artists who need mentorship, financial backing and guidance. It provides a platform for new artists, while bringing high quality art at accessible prices to a new range of buyers.

Under-represented talents face challenges in an institution that relies on the few established artists of international acclaim. c/discoveries empowers the next generation of artists by giving back to the artist: For every artwork sold under our non-profit initiative, 80% of the proceeds go to the artist, while the other 20% will fund future artists.
