ELECTROMAGNETIC is a curators and artists’ trans-disciplinary sound / art residency programme with the artist and musician Bruce Gilbert (ex-guitarist of the post-punk band Wire) + BAW (a.k.a. Beaconsfield Art Works – Naomi Siderfin and David Crawforth) and the Mexican artist Nahum Mantra, initiated by curators Eiko Honda and Catherine Harrington.
Following a period of research in Cork, Ireland during December 2014 the artists will create sound works in response to the standing stones along Ireland’s West coast and their mythicized electromagnetic fields.
In order to realize this project, a Kickstarter campaign has been launched that offers an array of rare CDs, collectible items and limited edition works by the artists – with prices ranging from £1 to £3,000. These include MP3 downloads of the artists’ sound works, rare artwork and albums by Bruce Gilbert, BAW and Rude Mechanic, limited edition artworks by Nahum Mantra and first press (limited to 5 editions) LPs of the final sound works. The curators and artists are eagerly seeking backers. They need your support to get them to Cork and to produce the new sound works, which can only be produced as both MP3s and LPs through your participation. To take part, visit:
