An exciting and eclectic interpretation of art on the shared theme of Ego with Exhibition Collective including 14 London based artists and two contemporary dancers from Berlin's Dance Theatre Company GAU.

About

Since 2013 London’s Exhibition Collective has been nurturing East London’s artistic community with regular workshops and annual themed shows yet 2017 is set to be its most accomplished year yet. Established by a small group of creative friends living in Stoke Newington, the EXC has since grown into a fourteen strong group of emerging artists working in a variety of forms including collage, pen and ink, photography, paint, pottery and needlework. The group will open their four-day exhibit on the evening of Thursday 23rd of November at Heneage Street’s Fifth Base Gallery, just off Brick Lane. This year they will be exhibiting an eclectic interpretation of art on the shared theme of Ego. Other years’ themes have included Peace, Alchemy and Light and Dark.

Many of the artists exhibiting have been a part of the EXC since 2013 and have developed their individual style over their five years with the collective via the groups creative gatherings, including stain-glass window workshops, pottery and a Collaborative Canvas workshop in which boards were rotated every 30 minutes throughout the group until a full circle was reached. As pen and ink artist and one of the original members of the group David Horgan says ‘The EXC has provided a great spring-board for me to get back into art and develop my style after a long hiatus, the workshops and exhibitions are enormous fun and build a real sense of comradery and this has led to me having the confidence to push my artwork further than I have before.’

Colloborating with contemporary dancers is a first for the collective:
The live performances will be @ the private view 23/11 and on the Friday 24/11.

Exhibition runs from Thursday 23rd till Sunday 26th.
