"Where are we - in which south of the world, at what latitude? The south is more than a geographical position between spatial coordinates. The south is a feeling in which time does not matter.
During her short daily routines, the photographer Ebba Dangschat accompanies a cell phone camera whose wide, neutral view forces her to overcome the distance to things.
In the square she creates familiar orders of foreign places, composing pictures that point beyond the moment. In grouped single images stories are unfold about the South, stories about longing and finitude. "
"I'm looking for pictures that look back at me from the lived moment and show me something of what has always been there and what always lasts - if my tracks have long since disappeared ..."
Ebba Dangschat was born in Hamburg and received in 2002 a diploma in Artistic Photography at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. She lives with her family in Berlin. In addition to her artistic work, she works as a freelancer and teaches photography at Berlin Fach- und Volkshochschulen.
