EAST LONDON ART WALKS - THURSDAY, 4TH OF MAY - 16:00-19:00 PM

About

The East London Art Walks is a curated experience led by Mine Kaplangı, the co-founder of Collective Çukurcuma and artist Tuba Yalcinkaya. The focus of the walk is to enhance our understanding of experiencing art collectively by exploring various perspectives and methods of interacting with art. The walks will take place only in East London art spaces, and each tour will feature a different route through parks, local cafes and bookstores, and will be moderated by guest artists, curators and writers. The programme will change each month based on the participating venues and their events. During the walk, participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversations, enjoy snacks, and explore the neighbourhood while discovering the works of artists and art venues in the area.

Details of the walk:

4pm-Starting point: No Show Space- We will meet in front of No Show Space and start our tour with Lucy Gunning's context-specific work "un”.

4:40pm-Second Venue: Sherbet Green-Slowly moving to our second destination. At Sherbet Green we will have a guided tour of their current two person exhibition “At Dawn” by Yage Guo (1998) and Go Sun (1998).

5:15pm-Third Venue: NıCOLETTı - We will explore the new group show “Ritornellos”, including new and existing works by Kevin Beasley (1985, USA), Mohamed Bourouissa (1978, Algeria), Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom (1984, UK) and Devin B. Johnson (1992, US) curated by New York-based curator and writer Rosemary Selig-Addiss and NıCOLETTı’s director Camille Houzé.

6:15pm-Fourth Venue: 213 Kupfer Project- Walking around 20 minutes to reach our final destination. “The improbable Truth” is a group exhibition curated by Sophie Agocs including works by artists Anaïs Comer, Celeste McEvoy, Maddy Plimmer. We’ve been kindly invited to see the artists’ studios and to a curatorial talk explaining the show.
