Created in 2018 by Forestry England, the Royal Geographical Society and Parker Harris, Earth Photo is a world-leading international programme engaging with still and moving image makers to showcase the issues affecting the climate and life on our planet.
About
Earth Photo’s main objective is to reveal the narratives behind the pictures, encouraging conversations about our world, its peoples, environments, and the changing climate.
Photographers and filmmakers from across the globe entered their work in Earth Photo 2023. Out of over 1,400 entries, a judging panel made up of experts from the fields of photography, film, geography and environment selected the Earth Photo 2023 shortlist: 128 photos and videos by 50 photographers and 6 filmmakers. Eight outstanding photography and film projects were chosen as the Earth Photo 2023 award winners.
The award-winning photographs and a selection of the shortlisted images are displayed outdoors, at large scale in the grounds of The Rodd. The Trust has awarded the Sidney Nolan Trust Residency Prize, a two-week residency at Nolan’s former home, The Rodd, to Anna Sellen, for her photograph Meadow Study.
Thirty photographs are presented outdoors and include Anna Sellen's work and the following award winners:
Earth Photo 2023 winner: Michal Siarek, for his series War babies and Korczowa, documenting the rescue of exotic pets, lions and tigers abandoned during the conflict in Ukraine.
Climate of Change: Clare Hewitt, for her series Everything in the forest is the forest.
Forest Ecosystem: Filippo Ferraro, for his series Wooden Diamonds.
We the Forest: Liv Milani, for her photo Beatriz, from the series Women and Trees.
David Wolf Kaye Future Potential Award – Photo: Mae Macadam, for her series of photos of Iceland, including Retreating Glacier and Ice Waterfall.
