The debut solo exhibition from UK-based artist and illustrator Dogboy
About
‘Dystopolis: the Awakening’ is an introduction to Dogboy‘s ongoing project and will feature a collection of works both commercial, collaborative and personal.
Private View: Thursday 1st September 2016, 7-10pm, free entry
Opening Times: 2nd September – 2nd October, 9am-5pm daily
First creating detailed observational pencil drawings of fantastical, anthropomorphic worlds, Dogboy develops linear worlds into hyper colour illustrations incorporating both screen print and digital methods. His high action artworks are rich single-page narratives; often incorporating exciting creatures and in-depth plots, following in the traditions of Peter Bruegal and Hieronymous Bosch.
“His characters look like what might happen if the devilish vampires in Buffy got sent into outer space and then were doused in buckets of Lego-coloured paint. It’s difficult to tell what his bulbous bunch are up to, whether they’re partying or rioting or being brutally punished, and in one image they seem to be in the middle of hosting an intergalactic radio show as part of some evil plot to take over the galaxy, but I can’t be sure. I’m even more unsure about whether I want to join in on the psychedelic anarchy, or run very, very far away.” It’s Nice That, June 2014
