DUET(?) is an exhibition that showcases the different ways in which the score is used as an artistic device in the practices of Holly Standen and Henry Gonnet, and highlights the incidental and unusual harmony created by situating their artworks together.
About
Holly Standen is a British artist from Thanet, currently based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Standen’s practice involves experimenting with sound digitally and physically, exploring its potential as a visceral and emotive media. She uses these qualities to convey her thoughts on current affairs and politics. Her sonic works are often presented as installations, which allows the sound to captivate the audience in an immersive environment.
Henry Gonnet is a British/French artist currently based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Gonnet's artworks are an exploration of binary ideas; his work sits at the intersection between the physical and digital worlds, navigating the space between premeditative decision-making and chance. Through a process he refers to as "generative score writing" Gonnet expresses his thoughts on ontology, causality, and aesthetics.
