About

This August, East London photo gallery theprintspace opens its doors for ‘drawn.' to showcase for the first time the recent work of talented illustrators and graphic designers. The illustration show ‘drawn.' is based on the very successful concept of sample, an annual photography group exhibition by theprintspace, which is renowned for displaying fresh new work and introducing emerging artists to the East London art community. The exhibition comprises an exciting selection of work ranging from Rosco Brittin's bold ‘Strange Fruit' illustrations, to Alan Coulson's fine lifelike graphite portrait of ‘Richie Culver' and Kristjana Williams' colourful ‘Lundunar Kort Rautt', an intricate collage map of modern London. The drawn. opening night hosts a fascinating live drawing session by renowned illustrator Miss Led as well as a collaboration of artist Harry Yeff (also known as beatboxer Reeps One) with photographer Ben Hopper. The two illustrators will demonstrate their stunning techniques and produce a large format work in front of the audience, which then will also become part of the exhibition. The three-week exhibition will be accompanied by a series of free illustration events held at theprintspace gallery. ‘drawn.': theprintspace illustration show opens at theprintspace gallery at 74 Kingsland Road on Thursday 1st August, 7pm — 9:30pm with drinks provided. The exhibition then continues until Friday 23rd August 2013, Monday — Friday 9-7pm and admission is free. Also featured are works by: Dan Hillier, Holly Sharpe, Iain Mcarthur, Mat Pringle, Miss Led, Claire Scully and Harry Yeff.
