About

Discover the enigmatic art of Giorgio Morandi through his masterpieces in the Magnani-Rocca Foundation and the Estorick Collection.

Over three sessions, you will learn how Morandi created his still lifes. This week, you will analyse his compositions while considering positive and negative shapes. Draw directly from Morandi’s works in the Gallery and create thumbnail sketches practising Morandi’s method of continuous line drawing with simple shading.

We welcome participants from any background and walks of life. Our classes are open to all: from absolute beginners and those who want to refresh their skills as part of a friendly community of art lovers.

You may also wish to enrol on:

Sessions can be booked separately and work nicely as a structured 3-week course or stand-alone experimental workshops.

Your Tutor: Kate Wilson, Artist and Educator
Kate teaches at Morley College and Drawing and Painting: Materials and Techniques for Contemporary Artists (Thames and Hudson, 2017). Her work was shortlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize.
