About
This workshop will explore the I Ching through drawing and the artist book format. The
I Ching, or the Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese Text that has served for thousands of years as a philosophical taxonomy of the universe. Each hexagram is composed of 2 trigrams that represent respectively, heaven, a lake, fire, thunder, wind, water, a mountain, and earth. These are the building blocks of the cosmos and through their interaction all aspects of civilization and human behaviour are developed. The I Ching has given practical guidance to people over thousands of times.
In this workshop we will discover together the history of this ancient wisdom text, learn how to use the I Ching, and journey through the whole 64 hexagrams... through sharing, drawing and readings, using the original translation by Richard Wilhelm with commentary by Carl Jung.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own I Ching as an artist book and a fuller heart felt understanding of this ancient wisdom text.
