About
Every Thursday, 10 sessions, £385
From 28 September 2017 to 30 November 2017, 10am – 5pm
This course allows time to really concentrate on all aspects of viewing and depicting a head; an invitation to experiment with materials in a bid to describe the sitter, seen either as a portrait or a figure to be transcribed. Students will be given ample time and space to approach the formal aspects of looking and drawing with the aim of developing their own language. Different ideas such as shape, composition, likeness and negative space will be taken into consideration, and references to the multifarious approaches to this subject by contemporary artists and artists from the pasts, in both two and three dimensional forms, will be made throughout. The long poses of the models will allow an immersive concentration and time to dissect and explore the intricacies of the ever evasive human form. A variety of materials and mediums will be covered.
