A photograph can be seen as a snapshot, a window into a moment in time, but with the developments in image making and ascension into digital photography it is necessary for us to reconsider the ways in which photographs influence our perception of reality, the functioning of memory and our trust in visual records.
About
The five artists in ‘Drag and Drop’ are alike in their expression of the image as a malleable entity in often surprising and opposing ways. Using psychological states and philosophical questioning they tackle the burden of digital imagery head on and turn its inherent duplicity into interesting and multilayered avenues of exploration. Duplicity is inherent in modern image making, but what if its deceit was split wide open, the lie on show for all to see? Through this abstraction can digital images help to release photography from the burden of being the medium of representation?
