Dorothy Cheung’s film Home, and A Distant Archive highlights the complex nature of home and its intersections with archives and government agreements
About
Home, and a Distant Archive, by previous CFCCA residency artist Dorothy Cheung, is a poetic portrait of four Hong Kong women abroad in London, who volunteered for retrieving and digitising the UK records of the handover agreement between the United Kingdom and China, and their thoughts on identity, diaspora and their home at this troubled time. The film is a resonant, poetic, deeply personal, yet expansive reflection, bringing into sharp relief the political and existential moment we are in.
Watch the work on the CFCCA website between Thu the 18th – Wed 24th of March (24’13”). Launch time: 12pm, UK time.
*Please note this work will be available to UK audiences only.
In March, May, July and September 2021, CFCCA will present weekly film screenings, giving our audiences a new means to connect with our programme from home, and engage with key issues of our present moment.
