About

Do The Green Thing is a public service for the planet that uses Creativity vs Climate Change to inspire people to be more sustainable. In the five years since they launched, their films, posters, podcasts and products have reached over 11m people in 209 countries/territories and inspired their subscribers to save 2.5 times more CO2 than they otherwise would have. March 1st 2013 was the launch of a poster campaign to support the countdown to WWF Earth Hour on March 23. Each day, a poster promoting one of the sustainable actions chosen by Do The Green Thing's nine environmental advisors was released. And they did so using world-class creativity, which is a brilliantly effective tool to seduce, provoke and persuade people to change their behaviour for the better. The list of contributors boasted world-famous designers, artists and creatives, including a host of Pentagram partners, London 2012's Olympic logo designer and the creative directors of Google and Innocent. The campaign was met with a brilliant reception and received press coverage in Creative Review, Design Week, The Guardian and The Independent. Such a great reception, in fact, that they decided to make the poster feed a permanent fixture and promised one poster a week to keep us full of good (and green) vibrations in our pursuit of a lifestyle that leaves little trace. Instead of activism, Do The Green Thing believe that the climate change issue can be approached using inspiration, information and ammunition. These tenets shine through in their powerful and provocative designs (often considered ‘advertising') and the practical actions they promote. Do The Green Thing exists to encourage green lifestyle changes that are simple, light-hearted, comical, endearing, accessible, community-building and friendship-growing, but above all, creative. The exhibition launches on Friday 27/9 and runs until 9/10
