Do Art Schools Make Art Movements will discuss two questions: how have art schools influenced art movements historically, and what themes are emerging from art schools today?

About

Applying their various experiences of arts education to these questions, the panelists will reflect on the purpose of art schools, and how these institutions can impact the wider world.

The panelists include Francisco Rodriguez, a recent Slade School of Fine Art graduate, Annie Davey, lecturer in art education and PhD candidate at UCL Institute of Education and Mathew Cornford, BA Fine Art course leader at the University of Brighton, who has written and spoken extensively about the cultural history of British art schools.

This event is part of FBA Futures 2019, the UK's biggest annual survey of emerging contemporary figurative art, mapping new practices and ideas of representation and draughtsmanship.
